Muara Tawar Project Abstract

JAKARTA (RambuEnergy.com) – The consortium of Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction Ltd and PT Hutama Karya and state electricity firm PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) on Friday (March 17) signed engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contracts to develop add-on projects of gas power plant (PLTGU) Muara Tawar Block 2, 3 and 4. PLTGU Muara Tawar is a strategic project as it supplies electricity to Greater Jakarta area. The project is located in Segara Jaya village, Taruna Jaya sub-district, Bekasi, West Java. The Muara Tawar add-on project will be developed on the existing power plant PLTG Muara Tawwar, by utilizing the wasted gas from the existing gas power plant. PLN will add the capacity of the power plant by 600 MW without having to add gas or fuel, thereby improving the efficiency of the power plant. Doosan said in a statement that under the terms of this order, Doosan will upgrade the 1,150-megawatt power plant into a 1,800-megawatt compound power plant by adding eight units of HRSG and three units of steam turbines. The construction will begin at the end of this year and would take about 30 months to complete the construction.
